Friedman’s work features untrained vocals by the string players as well as dance choreography by Paul Gordon Emerson (Company E, Washington D.C.) COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT HIGHLIGHTS

The Heartbeat Project: Math and Music for Navajo Children

Founder and facilitator with violinist Leerone Hakami, recipient of a Community Engagement Grant from The Juilliard School. The workshop was hosted at Navajo Technical University and included seven third-grade students. The students learned basic music skills through their existing math knowledge and concluded the week with performances of simple songs on recorder and xylophone for their families and community
